As a Registered Training Organization (RTO), Waverley Adult Literacy Program Inc. (WALP) are providers and assessors of nationally recognized training. Only RTOs can issue nationally recognized qualifications.
In order to become registered, RTOs must meet the Australian Quality Training Framework Standards (AQTF). This ensures the quality of Vocational Education and Training (VET) services throughout Australia.
Training organizations register to provide nationally recognized training with its relevant state or territory registration authority. In Victoria, where WALP is based, this is the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA).
The role of the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is to provide regulation that ensures quality education and training is delivered by the providers it registers in Victoria, and to promote informed choice when it comes to your education and training decisions.

The VRQA conducts audits of RTOs to ensure the compliance of an RTO with the necessary standards, conditions and guidelines for initial registration and/or continued registration. For WALP this audit is done every 5 years, upon renewal of our registration.

RTOs are required to collect and use data on the following Quality Indicators:
• Learner Engagement
RTOs are required to report annually on Quality Indicators. All data relates to the previous calendar year. Quality Indicator data is used by RTOs to undertake continuous improvement and by national, state and territory registering bodies to inform each RTO’s risk assessment.

The Learner Survey indicators are based on a survey of a sample of students. This sample represents 88% of Waverley Adult Literacy Program training delivery in 2019. The students surveyed for these indicators were selected by this organization in accordance with national guidelines.
